Prairie Ice Farmers
Overview Credits Specifications
What do you get when you mix a bunch of ice climbers, a frozen prairie, and a whole lot of determination? You get the Prairie Ice Farmers, the coolest (pun intended) group of climbers this side of the Canadian Rockies! Here in the heart of the Canadian Prairies, a vibrant community of ice climbers live and breathe the thrill of the climb. They pick up where Mother Nature left off, sculpting ice climbing playgrounds on the flatlands.
Join us on this epic journey exploring the lives of these ice climbers and the challenges they face in their quest to build and conquer the frozen “peaks” of the Canadian Prairies. It’s a story that will leave you feeling inspired, awestruck, and maybe even a little chilly!
Director - Ray Hope
In 2020, Ray discovered his passion for filmmaking and began his journey to become a master of the craft. Drawing on over two decades of experience in the information technology field, he immersed himself in all aspects of filmmaking, from storytelling to directing, photography/videography, lighting, sound, editing, effects, and even 3D animation.
An emerging Manitoba filmmaker developing a distinctive voice, Ray’s films are a feast for the senses, blending creative visual elements like lighting, effects, and animations with rich audio elements. Through his art, Ray hopes to transport the viewer to another world.
Ray’s voice is deeply connected to his own experiences and perspective. His films reflect his passion for adventure and his belief that anything is possible at any age. With a mission to “redefine what’s over the hill,” Ray and his wife, Jackie, founded Midlife Mountaineer (www.midlifemountaineer.com) to celebrate their own redefinition as mountain adventurers, writers, and filmmakers, and to tell stories about midlife inspiration and adventurous living.
